When it comes to capturing the special moments of your big day, choosing the right wedding photographer is crucial. Not only do you want someone who can take beautiful, high-quality photos, but you also want someone who can understand your vision and work with you to create the perfect memories.

But with so many photographers out there, how do you know which one is the right fit for you? Here are some important questions to ask when interviewing potential photographers:

Can I see a portfolio of your previous work?

This will give you a sense of their style and the types of images they typically capture. I have a couple of galleries I have permission to share with prospective couples, all you need to do is ask!

How many weddings have you photographed?

Experience is important when it comes to wedding photography, as there are many unique challenges that come with capturing a wedding. You may want an experienced but still relatively new photographer with maybe a bit more spark or ingenuity, you may want a supremely experienced photographer to do the job like clockwork - that's for you to decide!

Are you the primary photographer or will someone else be taking the photos?

If the photographer is going to be assisted, you will want to meet the assistant and see their work as well.

Are you comfortable with a shot list or do you prefer to work without one?

Some photographers prefer to have a shot list of specific shots you would like, while others prefer to work more spontaneously.

What is your approach to capturing candid moments?

Candid moments are often the most cherished memories of a wedding, so it's important to make sure the photographer knows how to capture them in a natural and unobtrusive way. This is how Erron Russell Photo & Video operate - a modus operandi you might say.

Do you have any experience with different lighting conditions?

Wedding photography often involves working with different lighting conditions, such as outdoor venues or dimly lit churches.

How do you handle the delivery of final images?

You will want to know how many images to expect, how long it will take to receive the final images, and what format they will be delivered in.

What is your pricing and package?

Make sure that the photographer's package and prices match your budget and needs. My pricing is public so you can get an idea of what we have to offer here.

By asking these questions, you can get a better sense of a photographer's style, experience, and approach, which will help you make the best decision for your special day.
