Some weddings are special for the people, some for the setting, and occasionally you get a day that brings both together perfectly. Martin and Emma’s wedding at Kilmartin Castle in Scotland was one of those days.
In May 2024, I travelled up from the South West, flying to Scotland to photograph their wedding at this incredible castle. With just 20 guests in attendance, plus their dog, it was a wonderfully intimate celebration. No huge guest list or elaborate production — just Martin and Emma, the people closest to them, and their four-legged friend sharing a really special day together.
The weather couldn't have suited the occasion better. The day was misty but stayed dry, giving the castle and its surroundings a beautiful atmosphere. Scotland has a particular magic in weather like that, and it made for a setting that felt almost timeless. It was a genuinely beautiful day from start to finish, and one that felt completely true to the couple.
Travelling for a wedding like this is one of the things I love most about what I do. I flew up especially to capture Martin and Emma's day, and made the most of the trip by spending the rest of the week exploring and photographing the Scottish Highlands. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience somewhere new, take in the landscapes and bring home a whole collection of photographs beyond the wedding itself.
As a wedding photographer based in the South West, I'm always happy to travel for couples, and this was a perfect example of why. A beautiful location, an intimate celebration and the chance to document a day that was entirely their own.
Martin and Emma's wedding at Kilmartin Castle is one I'm particularly proud of. It was a privilege to make the journey, be part of their day and capture the memories of such a special occasion. A misty Scottish setting, 20 guests, one very important dog, and a day that couldn't have been more perfect.
